Welcome to Society for Experimental Stroke
The Society’s mission is to:
1. build a closely connected, mutually beneficial network of active scientists who are actively doing experimental and translational stroke research;
2. foster exchange of information on stroke models, experimental and translational stroke research among peers;
3. coordinate hands-on training and promote Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) for stroke models;
4. culture an environment that favors identifying and solving problems;
5. Improve the quality of experimental stroke research and facilitate a successful translation for ischemic stroke treatment.

What we believe
We exchange opinions, experience, skills, and solutions for solving problems with a goal to improve our research quality though mutual supports. Moreover, through a continuous in-depth discussion on the possible factors that affect research quality, we strive to identify as many problems as possible. By this way, we lay the foundation to find the most effective solution addressing the disconnection between laboratory and clinic research in ischemic stroke.
SFES is dedicated to showing LOVE, RESPECT, and UNDERSTANDING to all people. We love and respect our stroke patients and that is why we organized this society. Our intention is to seek more understanding about stroke sciences in order to better serve patients. LOVE, RESPECT, and UNDERSTANDING will also guarantee us fruitful accomplishments in the sciences. The following paragraphs explain how it works:
RESPECT: All members are equally valued and treated within this society. Each of us is endowed with talents that can contribute to this society and the stroke field. We should interact with each other in ways that show humility for our talents and respect for others. A respect opens the doors to knowledge. Learning occurs best when there is mutual respects.
UNDERSTANDING: We gain knowledge from understanding others’ work as well as their critiques of our work. When we respect others’ work, we are able to seek a more complete understanding of what is being presented before us. We learn how to do a better job from others’ excellent work and also learn how to avoid similar problems from an experiment’s weakness. And most importantly, we can learn valuable lessons from the experiences of others.
LOVE: Our mission will be fulfilled more efficiently with love rather than with cynicism. Love initiates a willingness to help, while cynicism produces bitter criticism and harsh words, which stimulate defense and shut the doors to knowledge. With a complete understanding of others’ work, we acknowledge others’ faults intelligently without using bitter criticism. In turn, we can better seek ways to support one another. For our society to be a success, we need to love our members.
Respect each other, seek more understanding, help with your loving heart, and then have faith to be fruitful.
